Update Update Update

Hello Everyone!

Well I definatly lost my gusto to write an update every 2 weeks. Their just is not enough going on in my life to justify that. And now that Sydney is not so new and different things are not as exciting to me. Simply put: I am settling into my life here quite well.

Here is a quick run down of what I have been doing:

The busy weekend of this past month:
August 11: My Girl Guide unit participated in a fundrasor for Mission Australia. The Big Winter Sleepout. We slept out at the Zoo. The Sydney Zoo depresses me, for it is too small for the number and the size of the animals it houses. For one night, with 1500 Girl Guides it was awfully nice to spend the night under the stars in a place with the animals talking and the most amazing city views. It was also a really good night for me to mix and mingle with other Girl Guides leaders. I even found some that played Euchre. So instead of sleeping I played cards the entire night.

August 12: A friend of mine had a housewarming party with a Drag Theme. Noone was granted access to the party unless you were dressed in drag. So I dressed as a Drag King. And much to my surprise I did not look so bad. It was an interesting night to people watch. So that is exactly what I did, and of course I had my camera. So now I need to develop the photos to share.

August 13: Another gig brought to you by the girls at Scooter I have been doing a lot with Scooter lately. At the gig I helped with the door and celling CDs and zines and whatnot. I have also been DJing on their radio show. The show is on a community radio station, so we are on the air between a hip hop show and a guy who plays the same classical tape every week. The station is called "Radio Skid Row" and the frequency is 88.9FM I have to hold back from saying "89X" in a really cheesy radio voice.

So after that weekend all I wanted to do was sleep. But-nooooo-I had to go to work. Work has been a huge stresser this month. First thing, UUNET is now Worldcom. Officially. I figured out I have gone through 6 company names in 4 years. And after each change tension builds in the office. This time, there is also tension in my department, specifically, I feel as if there is some sort of a build up to a coup. Because of all this occuring I have not been too focused. I just go to work and go home and watch TV. Even my room has been messier than usual.

This past week our new flatmate has moved in. He is a true computer geek. More computers than I care to count and a huge sci-fi book collection. I think Craig is going to be a nice addition to the house with his laid back ways and his quick sense of humour.

With the moving in of Craig and the changing of the weather (it is definatly the tail end of winter) and the fact that I have spoken to the necassary people at my work to make needed changes I feel as if I can start spring cleaning. My desk is all tidy, and my room is getting there. Now I want to buy some patio furniture for my balcony and need to get a filing cabinet. And heck maybe I will start watching less TV again and feel like me again.

Australian: American:
crank crack (As in: Can you crack open a window?)
brown bread wheat bread
pram stroller
doona comforter

If you would like to listen to an Australian Radio Station here is one I listen to the most Triple J
And here is the newspaper I read most often Sydney Morning Herald

As always I love hearing from you.

Take Care,
Tia
