As for the article, no one was told they lost their job via a voicemail that is a bit of creative journalism there.

I have not been retrenched (laid-off) yet. 28th of February is my last day with Worldcom. Until then I will be looking for another company to sponsor me, though the prospects are dim. What will I do if I do not get a sponsorship you ask? Well I will probably travel around a bit on this side of the world while the US finishes it's winter, and then go somewhere in the US. Where? I am not sure yet, I will figure that out when the time comes.

I am still trying to let this information sink in, and unfortunately I have not had much more to talk about lately. We could all see this coming so I have been able to taste the bad morale at work for a couple of months. I am just glad we know now.
